Do We Need New Furniture?

Image
Happy Monday everyone! I hope you're having a wonderful spring. We sure are. Not becasue we're able to get out more (because we walked almost daily all winter) , but because we can get out for longer and explore a little more. I get exercise and the dogs get to sniff all kinds of new things. It's a win-win in my book. But with the snow melting the ground is soft and muddy so the dogs get dirty and we have to brush them out more often. A couple days ago I took a short video on my phone of Wiley getting brushed while she was sleeping. She was adorable. She loves getting brushed so she just relaxed and kinda stayed half asleep during her brushing. I wanted to (and eventually did) share this video on social media. I was hesitant to share it because Wiley was sleeping on our couch in the video. You can see the video here . Our couch is in far less than perfect condition and I wasn't sure what people would think of us keeping a couch in less than perfect condition. A

What I've Been Reading

I wouldn't say that I love to read. I don't. But I do love to learn. I enjoy taking part in intelligent conversation. How could I do that if I don't know anything? This is why I read - to learn. I'm going to share with you some incredible books and 2 terrible books that I've read in the past few months. I don't think I could choose a favorite so these are in no particular order. No spoilers, I promise. ][ Let's get started, shall we? Disclaimer: If you make a purchase through a link on this page I may earn a small commission. Of course, there will never be an extra cost to you. RACHEL HOLLIS GIRL, WASH YOUR FACE - This book is an awesome kick in the butt! Rachel can convince you that you can do anything. She basically says, choose who you are going to be and own it. Do it. Be you. No matter what anyone else thinks. This one definitely made me feel more confident in my life choices. She writes about real life too, some of the things sh

VDL Make-up Review

Good afternoon people! While I was away a special parcel arrived for me and I just couldn't wait to get home and try it all out. The special parcel was a new VoxBox from Influenster containing 11 different products from the VDL line. I received these products free in exchange for providing a honest review. All right now, let's see what I got. Naked Cleansing Oil Cream - This cleanser works amazing. It took everything off my face and left no oily residue or feeling. Just clean and hydrated! I'm a little disappointed by the scent though, it smells rather synthetic. I would prefer a little lighter of a scent. However, I will still use it because it works so well. And it could end up finding it's way into my regular routine. Lumilayer Primer - I felt like a pretty unicorn when I used this primer. A little too iridescent for me. It did camouflage pores and small blemishes. I didn't find that it helped much with larger bumps. It's not my cup of tea for

Ridiculous Things I Say *language advisory*

Have you ever been to Cape Breton? If you have, you probably noticed that we have our own interesting way of speaking. Ok, well maybe not all of us but many of us use some interesting sayings to get our point across.  Even though Damon spent some summers as a child in Cape Breton, when these sayings come out of my mouth he can't help but chuckle. A really great chuckle. I'm glad that the way I talk is so funny to him. The most recent one that he heard come from me is "I fuckin' near piled 'er b'y" It was the first warm day here in Saskatchewan and we were outside cleaning the truck. I stepped on a spot of ice and I fuckin' near piled 'er b'y. Now, Damon understood what I meant because he saw it happen but later asked me where it came from. I almost fell, what did that have to do with a pile? Well, I almost fell into a pile. Simple. Right? Apparently not.

The Green Up

My house produces A LOT of garbage. I can't understand it, we are just 2 people. We don't eat a lot of packaged food. Yet, somehow we produce a lot of trash. For a while I didn't really notice it because I don't always take out the trash. But Hubby has been a little busier at work so I've been doing the trash a bit more than I normally would. And Holy Cow. There is just so much. I haven't told my Damon yet but I've made it my mission to cut down on our production of trash and I've started doing my research. I feel like he might find out when this post goes live. haha . Obviously I know that I should be taking reusable bags for groceries and such but I'm usually running out the door at the point that I remember them. I've decided to make it a priority, when I get the coolers ready to go to town for groceries I will also get the cloth bags ready and put them with the coolers. I have told him that I want to buy a giant thing of dish soap and

The Thing That Makes Me Happiest

Image
Hey there people! As the title of this post suggests, I'm going to tell you about the thing in my life that makes me the absolute happiest. The thing that makes me happiest is likely not what you would expect... I love my husband and my family, and they all make me happy. I love my pets and my home. I like to cook and hike and bake things and do all kinds of other exciting things. But the thing that makes me the happiest is strapping my booted feet onto a rigid board and propelling myself down a snow covered hill. On top of Ol' Smokey Snowboarding... Snowboarding is the thing in this world that makes me the happiest. Everything else in the world disappears when I'm strapped onto that thing. Now, I'm good at it, I'm not great. I can get from the top of the hill to the bottom without and issues, and I can do a little bit of showing off while getting there; but I cannot land a jump. I can certainly hit the jump, absolutely cannot land it. I know that th

Living in Isolation: Am I Bored? Truths

Image
Good morning! Thanks for stopping back. Or, WELCOME, if this is your first visit. If you've seen my other posts you know that my husband is a member of the RCMP which moves us all over the place. We are now located in Northern Saskatchewan. We are 1.5 hrs away from a grocery store. We are 4 hours away from decent shopping and we are 7 hours away from an air port.  From the road where we walk the dogs It's February. It's cold here. This morning is -28 degrees before the wind-chill. My dogs don't even want to go outside. When it's this cold I don't usually want to go outside either, however, I can. I make sure to dress for it. No skin is exposed and I won't stay out for long. So do I get bored when the weather is this unforgiving and I'm stuck in the house all the time. ( I use the word stuck loosely because I'm never actually trapped here. ) ABSOLUTLEY I get bored! And I have bad days; and I cry; and I get frustrated. But then I realize j
