Living in Isolation: Am I Bored? Truths

Image
Good morning! Thanks for stopping back. Or, WELCOME, if this is your first visit. If you've seen my other posts you know that my husband is a member of the RCMP which moves us all over the place. We are now located in Northern Saskatchewan. We are 1.5 hrs away from a grocery store. We are 4 hours away from decent shopping and we are 7 hours away from an air port.  From the road where we walk the dogs It's February. It's cold here. This morning is -28 degrees before the wind-chill. My dogs don't even want to go outside. When it's this cold I don't usually want to go outside either, however, I can. I make sure to dress for it. No skin is exposed and I won't stay out for long. So do I get bored when the weather is this unforgiving and I'm stuck in the house all the time. ( I use the word stuck loosely because I'm never actually trapped here. ) ABSOLUTLEY I get bored! And I have bad days; and I cry; and I get frustrated. But then I realize j...

Clean & Clear Lemon Zest Review

Image
I received these products free in exchange for providing an honest review.  Hey all!! I got another Vox Box from Influenster and I'm excited to share with you. This box included 3 products from the Clean & Clear Lemon Zest line.  Let's start with my favorite. The Lemon Gel Cleanser. Oh, how I love this. The smell is nice and lemony fresh. Like a real lemon smell. This cleanser foams a little bit but not huge bubbles. You definitely know it's cleaning. I really like how clean my face feels afterwards. No dirt or grime or greasiness left behind. It doesn't dry out my skin either. It's just all around wonderful. Now, lets talk about the Cleansing Wipes. They say for daily use. But my skin didn't feel entirely clean after using these. In my opinion they would be good for when you've had a night out and don't feel like cleaning your face but really know that you should. Use these wipes then. OR...maybe your going on a short flying trip and you ...

My Sewing Addiction

Image
Quilt # 2. Made for a friend Disclosure - I may earn a small commission if you make a purchase through a link on this page. No extra cost to you. Do you quilt? or sew? I do! I just got into it about 6 moths ago. I definitely didn't think it would be something I would enjoy, but here I am, 6 quilts and a set of placemats later. OK, so I don't have the last 2 quilts or the placemats finished yet. But the tops are sewn. My very first quilt. No tools. Just kitchen scissors and a sewing machine. When we were getting set to move to the middle of no-where in Northern Saskatchewan my parents gifted me a sewing machine. Something similar to  this one . I was shocked, not in good way either and according to my Mom it was written all over my face that I wasn't impressed. She knew something I didn't know at the time - sewing is awesome. Shortly after we got settled in our new home I decided I was going to try this sewing thing. I took out my new sewing machine and...

Vichy Liftactiv Review

Image
I received this product free in exchange for providing an honest review. I'm pretty pumped to do my first blog review of a beauty product! Recently I received a FREE sample of @Vichy Liftactiv. I was instantly impressed with the packaging. I appreciate my creams in a jar so that I can actually use it all; and it was a glass jar so that adds a little bit of a classy feel to it. ;) The texture of the cream would remind you of a good whipped cream, light and smooth. The smell surprised me at first. I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, it's definitely a floral scent. After a couple of days I decided that I do really enjoy the scent. HOW DOES IT ACTUALLY WORK THOUGH? I'm happy with the results I've seen in just a short period of time. About 1 week. My favorite result is the way my skin feels to the touch. It feels smooth and velvety; like a child's face would feel. It has started to help some of the lines that only I can see. Perhaps with extended use I...

Routine In My Days

Image
Good afternoon! Just for fun here's a picture of Spazz getting her nails done.  It's almost time to wake hubby to go to work at 6:00.  It's a routine. On days that he works a night shift, he goes to lay down and sleep from 3:00pm -5:00pm. It's the part of my night shift days when I get caught up on things that I might have let slide so that I could spend more time enjoying him. Routine. I like that. Today was anything but routine.  For the last 3 weeks I've been waking at 6:30am and getting chores done; laundry on Saturday; sheets changed on Sunday; floors mopped on Tuesday. And so on. Getting my routine on. Well today is Tuesday and the floors did not get mopped until after 1:00pm. It made me cranky. I know it shouldn't have because [really]   it's just mopping, but I really like to have that kind of stuff done in the morning so that I can pursue other activities (like this blog) later in the day and not have to worry about getting the necess...

What You Might Find Here

Image
Good evening everyone I Just want to give you an idea of the kind of things you might find here. I am not an expert in anything so everything I talk about will be my opinion only (unless referenced). I do feel very passionately about many subjects, hobbies, etc. When I’m really into something I submerge myself into learning as much as I can about it. E.g.: I love health and fitness, so I got certified as a group fitness instructor and fitness nutritionist. I am a proud RCMP wife. My husband and I are currently posted in a beautiful community in Northern Saskatchewan. I love it here. It’s a place where I have the career I want, and he has the career he wants. I’m a career wife, BTW. Together we have 4 wonderful fur babies, 2 cats – Spitz & Spazz; and 2 dogs – Hazel and Wiley. I’ll talk more about them in an upcoming post. Here’s Hazel. Isn’t she beautiful? Most days I thrive on the routine of being a Homemaker.   Some days I’m like “I quit!” ha! As if I ha...

A Little About Me

Image
My name is Sheena. I was born and raised on the shores of Cape Breton. You know, the world-famous Cabot Trail? I had an average childhood, I guess. I’m an only child. I never went without. Some might say I was am spoiled. Always a Daddy’s girl, still am at 30. My passion through high school was soccer! I played left defense and I was nicknamed the “MackTruck” because being hit by me was like getting hit by a Mack truck. My only regret is that I played on that team for 6 years and never once scored a goal. After graduation in 2006 I went to college for business; worked a couple jobs before settling in the local Home Hardware. In 2011 my parents bought the Home Hardware and I continued to work there until my Mountie got re-posted in June 2017. I met my now husband in 2015. It was a whirlwind, frenzied time. I spent the night once and never left. We were engaged in Oct 2016. It was a mutual decision that we made and talked about till it was exhausted. We had both been in ...
